The difficult thing about football is that as a player you tend to go back and rehash close losses and what you could have done differently in a certain game or situation to come out victorious. I'm sure some of the players are saying if we had made a play here or there, we wouldn't be in this situation and we would control our own destiny. That is life in the NFL. Two or three plays can separate a playoff team and a team that is going home for the postseason.
The important thing for the Titans is that they are still alive. In my opinion it all comes down to a one-game season. Making the playoffs is a goal of every team when training camp begins and the ultimate dream is playing in the Super Bowl and winning it. The only way for Tennessee to have a chance to experience that is to take care of its own business. You can only control what you can control. All the other scenarios and games don't mean anything unless you get your job done and win on Sunday.
The Titans have been down this path before. Just last season they went on a run during the second half of the season and had a shot at a playoff berth. It was a lot less likely for the playoff scenarios to fall their way in 2006, but somehow they did. All the teams that needed to lose did, but the only problem was the Titans didn't win the finale and ended up on the outside. I think last year's experience will benefit them this time around. Don't get me wrong, all Titans fans should be rooting against Cleveland and Pittsburgh, but the only thing Titans players can do is win their game and hope things fall in place.
Hopefully I will check in with a new blog entry during the postseason. Go Titans!
