NEW ORLEANS – A flame sparked an idea in Adam McMillan's head.
And for McMillan, it started a tradition that's still going strong.
McMillan, better known as "Titan Man," was selected as the Tennessee Titans Fan of the Year for 2024.
On Sunday, he was in the stands for Super Bowl LIX with his wife, Christini.
"It's been amazing," McMillan said from Section 602 of Caesars Superdome before the game. "What a cool experience. This city is buzzing, and now to be at the game. It's a dream come true."
The dream, of course, would've been better had the Titans been in this year's game, instead of the Chiefs from the AFC.
But McMillan has made the most of it, just like he has his fandom.
McMillan, who went to Antioch High School, started going to games back when the team played at Vanderbilt Stadium, and they were actually called the Tennessee Oilers.
In 1999, McMillan became a season ticket holder founding member for games at Nissan Stadium. He sits near the tunnel, in the lower level, Section 132.
You've probably recognized him – he's the one decked out from head to toe as "Titan Man."
"Helmet, shoulder pads," McMillan said. "Armor on the arms, legs. It really is full body, head to toe."
McMillan said he got the idea after seeing "Flameheads" in the stands. He's been going to games for 25 years, and began 'Titan Man' in 2014.
"I thought (the Flamheads) were really cool, so I wanted to do something a little different," McMillan said. "So, I went with the Greek theme. Titan Man was born, and it's been a fun ride."
Titan Man is recognized in Nashville, and beyond.
"They'll see me and say, Titan Up! Titan Man!," McMillan said. "Hey, let me get a picture, Titan Man. It's fun. Watching people light up and smile, it makes my day."
McMillan has said he shared his super fandom with his nephew, who attended every game with him and shared the same passion for the Titans. Unfortunately, McMillan and his family lost his nephew to a car accident a few years ago but he's said he continues to keep the passion and dedication for the Titans alive in honor of him.
McMillan said he was thrilled when he found out he'd been selected as the team's Fan of the Year.
Here in New Orleans, he attended NFL Honors, spent time at the NFL Experience, and, of course, he's at the Super Bowl.
McMillan didn't dress up in his full Titan Man outfit on Sunday, but he's representing in his Titans hat, jersey, and shorts.
"Security is really tight," McMillan said with a smile. "I think everybody knows everything is ramped here. Sometimes I have a hard time getting (all the gear) into Titans stadium. You don't want to risk not being able to get in."
He had his Titan Man helmet with him at NFL Honors, and at Super Bowl LIX.
"I have pieces here, but the whole thing is a lot to lug around," he said with a smile. "But I had to bring something to represent Titan Man."
Being the Titans Fan of the Year "means everything," McMillan said.
"I can't thank the organization enough. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the other fans, the Tennessee Titans nation. I just want to say thank you to all you guys, and Titan Up!"
