How would you evaluate the defense through the first three games?
"We say we want to be a good defense, but unless we stop hurting ourselves in these big plays or penalties that eventually turn into a big play, we cannot be a good defense until that happens. We have to continue to watch the tape, keep fighting, and keep battling."
When you guys were walking into the locker room after the game, Mike Vrabel said, 'it is a long season.' Is that the only way you can look at things after a loss like this?
"Yeah, I mean, you just have to go back to the drawing board. It is very easy to get buried. Obviously, we know–I do not want to say the media and that, but they are going to say we suck. That is what we have to take on the chin. That is what it is in professional football. We have to continue to chop wood and find ways to get better. That is what we are going to do as leaders. Do not let anyone get too down on themselves. We are 1-2. We have not played any divisional games yet, so we have to keep fighting throughout the year. "
After a loss like this, we will ask Vrabel what went wrong and he will say, 'We have to coach better, we have to play better.' How does that message resonate with you guys?
"I mean it is true, in a way. As a player, I always look at myself in a way I have to try to find ways to make more plays. We always talk about winning these types of games. Our best players have to play well. Each week in the NFL is going to be different. I do not think anything that happened today should affect us next week against the Bengals."
