RUNNING BACK JONATHAN TAYLOR
Was it important for you to bounce back today?
"Not really, not for me. We just needed to get the win. For me, like I said, something like that last week, that's something that's not common for me. A mishap. Something that you know that'll never happen again, but we just needed to get the win. We just have to keep that goal in sight. It's a chance, it's slim, but it's a chance."
How does it feel when you see daylight in front of you?
"I mean, you get excited – sometimes maybe a little too excited. But, when you see that you get excited, and then you kind of just start analyzing, 'Okay, where are the defenders? How much room do I have on the sideline?' But then once you know, like, okay, now it's just a foot race. Then once it gets to a certain point, it's like, 'Okay, it's just a foot race, I have to get in there.'"
How supportive have the guys been through all of that? After you scored, it looked like everyone kind of mobbed you and joked with you.
"Yeah, that was awesome. Tyler Goodson came up to me, tried to snatch the ball out of my hand. But that's the type of teammates that we have. That's the type of guys we have in the locker room. They understand the type of person I am, the type of player I am, and just know that I always try to do things the right way. I always trying to be a leader. I always try to put the team first. So, it's awesome. I mean, shout out to the guys up front. I mean, they do a ton of the heavy lifting week in and week out. So, you always have to show love to the guys up front."
With today's performance and your performance this season, what does it say about the guys in front of you and the changes that have switched in front of you?
"I think that's the biggest thing – I know we spoke about it a couple times throughout the season, is you have the five guys communicating with each other and then the backfield. And then when those guys up front swap around, they have to figure out how to communicate with each other, and now us in the backfield have to figure out how to communicate with those new guys. So just that level of communication throughout the entire week, no matter who's in there, I think that's been the most important thing for us and I think it showed today."
How satisfying is it that you have a coach that wants to run you guys that many times?
"It shows the level of trust that he has. But that comes from the week of practice. And then of course ultimately that comes from executing in the game. But the week of practice, executing in the game and him knowing, like, 'Okay, these guys have put the work in. I see that they're executing at a high level. We're going to roll with it.'"
