RUNNING BACK JOE MIXON
Season's wrapped up now. Overall thoughts on your first season with the Texans?
Season ain't done yet. The hard part, I feel like is over with. Trying to get to the tournament. Obviously, it's a blessing in year eight to be able to reach 1k. I'm blessed to be able to showcase my talent here at a high level. I'm thankful.
You talked about DP (Dameon Pierce). Once you come out of the game, how cool is it to see him go in and do what he did?
My dog DP (Dameon Pierce)! That boy was cutting up today. It was a great feeling to see him fight through a lot of adversity. It was just good for the team to see him thrive. To me, as one of the big brothers in the room, it was great. My boy put on a show. He went out there, he ran hard, finished runs, and you can't ask for someone like that to do more than what he did. He had a hell of a show. It was great to see that.
You stayed locked in on the sideline afterwards. How big was that to be able to show love both with DP (Dameon Pierce) and his touchdown and Xavier Hutchison when he drew that PI (pass interference) and also Derek Barnett when he ran it to the endzone?
We were over there turned up and that's part of what we were trying to do throughout the season. I'm just glad. When you start clicking at the right time you want to keep trending upward. We just came out there and executed the game plan. Everybody was cheering for their teammates, turned up for them. All that energy is infectious. I think it carried throughout the whole team and we are going to need that throughout the playoffs. I just can't wait to see how our guys respond next week.
How would you describe Dameon's (Pierce) game, running style, and everything you saw from him today?
My boy Dameon (Pierce), he's going to run hard. That's what he prides himself on doing. He's going to run hard. I think that he's done a great job. Every time I get out of the game, he picks up where I left off. I'm just happy to see him have a hell of a game like he did today. I thought he fought his ass off today. He finished his runs, he ran hard. It's a long time coming for him. I'm just glad that he was able to find his footing today. It was a great thing for him, and it was a great thing for me to see honestly.
You hit 1,000 (yards) today. I know you see that as a team accomplishment. How do you view that given some issues, some games it wasn't perfect, but you hit that mark and I know you did it with pride.
In all honesty, I felt like we left a lot of yards off with me and whoever. I think we can all agree that we left a lot of yards out there. Last game of the season, to be able to get over that 1k. At this point of my career, you would think that everything is going downward. I'm just glad to be able to have another 1k season. It's a blessing to be able to make it to Week 18 and be able to put up numbers. At this point, I'm just so happy that we are playing for something bigger than that. We are going to the playoffs with a big week ahead of us. Now it's do or die and it's that time.
