With (Klay) Kubiak since he was calling plays, what was that like?
It was fun to have Klay (Kubiak) calling plays. I thought he did a great job. He was calm up in the box. I thought every time a play came in, I had a lot of confidence in what he was calling and thought most of it was going to work.
You had a couple 40-yard throws down the field that just off Matt's (Breida) hands. Did you feel good about the accuracy at least on that?
Yeah, it was a little late on the second go ball. The first one I felt OK about. It happens, and guys can't catch them all. Tough.
It seemed that (Patrick) Taylor had a nice blitz pickup on that second one. Is that something that you notice, or feel when he puts his body out in front of a linebacker like that?
Yeah. He's a physical guy, he's shown that all throughout camp. The way he runs, the way he pass protects, and when he's in there pass protecting I got a lot of confidence like I do (with) the O-Line. He's going to know who his guy is, pick him up, and stonewall him right there.
Jordan (Mason) had already been in the league a year before you got here, but can you tell in one year's time how many strides he has made?
Since I got here last year, I've noticed how hard he runs, and his vision is really good. Anytime you have that kind of combo where you run extremely physical and have good vision, those two things go really well for a running back.
You had a lot of success over the middle, intermediate throws are kind of a staple of this offense. What is it about that those throws, because you looked very comfortable?
I have been in similar systems where we have similar reads and plays. I have always been comfortable throwing over the middle. I don't know why, but I do feel like I can see the field well. I'm really comfortable with having things develop over the middle of the field and being able to see it.
You usually have watched behind Brock Purdy. With Brock Purdy not suiting up, did he talk to you at all certain things or what he was seeing? Or was he enjoying the day off?
No, he was in on it. He was sitting on the bench after each drive, watching the pictures that we get and seeing what we were seeing out there. Obviously, he deserves the night off, but he was definitely locked in the whole game trying to help us out.
