It was fun to get out there and play, get out there and play a live action game against another team. I was really excited out there, things I want to improve on and get better at. But just the energy of a first NFL game was really, really nice.
Was there something you felt like you learned that maybe you can only grasp in a game atmosphere in the NFL, that doesn't quite translate during camp?
Honestly, just the intensity of the game. I know it's a preseason game, but it's still a game at the end of the day and a lot of guys are out there competing and really trying to earn a spot and prove your worth to your team. So, it means a lot to everybody. Practice matters. But this is a live rep, especially as a lineman, if you get beat that's a sack. In practice you can kind of gauge "Would he really get a sack in a game?" but in a game that's a sack. So yeah, it's pretty big deal to me.
Of course, we see you working with the ones in camp as well. As for this game, you mentioned earning your spot. What was your mindset on that at this point?
Everywhere I've been, you just want to prove your worth to your team so you can gain the trust of your teammates and really show them what you're capable of. I know the potential of what type of caliber player I can be. But it is potentially dangerous word, you really haven't done anything yet. Like I said, every single play just go out there and prove my worth to my team and the organization and why I was deserving of what I was.
What was the most fun part for you out there?
Scoring the first touchdown, that was awesome. I mean, I think it was a sneak to get it in. Yeah, it kind of felt like the Eagles back a couple years ago with that. But yeah that was amazing.
Did I see that maybe (Will) Levis was kind of looking for you for the celebration? Did he come over to you?
Yeah, he came over, did a little toss in the air. Something I was meant to do if we got touchdown during the game.
Okay, so was that a little bit of a rookie initiation for you?
Yeah. It was nice.
