I know the kind of competitor you are and when Derrick Henry got rolling like that, what does that feel like and wanting to do something to stop him?
"It sucks. We have to stop the run. That's the main thing. When you play against a team like this, you're playing against a back like that, you want to stop the run. In the first half we didn't do that. We've been backed in the corner – I've been in plenty battles in my life and at halftime it's a mindset thing. I see all the things people say about – Darius (Leonard) is pumping up the crowd and stuff. Only dummies quit. I'm not a quitter. That's not what I do. I fight to the finish. I'm trying to get this team going, I'm trying to make a play. Yes, we were down. We've been down plenty of times, but you keep fighting. When you are in these situations, you find out what type of team you have. Who is quitting on you? Who's going to keep playing? That's what we have to do. That's what I tried to do today. That's why the defense came out in the second half – it was more so, 'Are we going to lay down or step up?' That's the mindset you have to have as a competitor. If you lay down, if you're not still trying to get the crowd into it, you're still not trying to make plays then you're not a competitor. You suck. If you play a ball game for any team, competitive sport, if you're losing, as long as there is time on the clock in your mind you can win this ball game. People have to understand that."
What would you point to for the issues in the run game in the first half?
"We didn't do a good enough job of making plays."
What was this week for like? It was a weird one for you guys. DeForest Buckner goes down, Denico Autry is not back, Jonathan Taylor goes out yesterday. I know it's next man up, but was it a weird week in terms of just all the different changes?
"No, you don't make excuses. COVID-19 is real. Things happen, you prepare for that. That's why if you're on the practice squad, backup or whatever, you prepare as you plan. That's the mindset we have. We don't point any fingers. We didn't do a good enough job today. It doesn't matter who's up front or behind or whatever, we just didn't do a good job defensively to stop this team."
