(on the first half)
It was pretty good, we got a lot of work, especially on the offensive side. Two long drives, but unfortunately we didn't come away with points. That was probably the disappointing part. Defense played very well and made a big third-down stop on third and one. Two turnovers, that's what we need from our defense this year, and it's a great start for them.
(on his first game as a head coach)
It's interesting. I haven't really had to make any big decisions yet. I'm just kind of feeling my way through this with the coordinators. I've been a little more involved with the offense than the defense. Just exciting. It's fun to just watch these guys play after working so hard for the last two weeks and to have a little success. We only got a half in there, so we look forward to seeing what's going to happen in the second half.

(on his performance)
I thought there was a lot of great stuff out there. We have to look at the film, and I'm sure there are things we need to clean up. Overall though, for the first time out, I thought it was a great start to the season.
(on the fumble that pushed back the opening drive)
I'm not exactly sure what happened. I tried to hand it to the tailback, and I think it might have hit the elbow of the fullback. I'm going to have to take a look at that again. Those are the things that obviously we have to clean up.
S CHRIS HOPE
(on the defense's performance in the first half)
For the first time out, full speed and tackling another opponent, I thought we played well. Everyone was hustling to the ball, we didn't have any mental errors, and we played real hard. When you put all that together, we know we can be a really good defense. One thing that Coach Gray has said is he's going to put guys into position to be successful, and I think you saw that tonight.
(on forcing turnovers)
The goal is always to get three turnovers, but we will take what we can get. The good thing is those two turnovers turned into 14 points for the offense. I think we stuck with it out there a few times early. They converted a few third-and-shorts on the opening drive, but we made a play and got off the field.
