INDIANAPOLIS – The Titans are exploring quarterback options here at the NFL Combine, from Miami's Cam Ward to Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and beyond.
The team is also monitoring quarterbacks on other teams who are scheduled to become free agents, as well as those who could be available via trade.
Already this offseason, General Manager Mike Borgonzi and Coach Brian Callahan have also said they plan to give Will Levis every opportunity to compete for the starting job in 2025 as well.
So, what about veteran Mason Rudolph, who ended up playing eight games himself for the Titans in 2024?
Here at the NFL Combine, I asked both Borgonzi and Callahan about Rudolph, and their interest in re-signing him in some capacity.
"Mason is certainly under consideration," Callahan said. "Mason was a really quality player for us, especially the importance of that position – the second quarterback. Being able to manage part of the room, perform, I was really pleased with Mason.
"I would welcome him back if that was the right fit."
Rudolph started five games while playing in eight for the Titans in 2024, and he completed 146-of-228 passes for 1,530 yards and nine touchdowns, along with nine interceptions, and a rating of 80.1. Levis was 190-of-301 for 2,091 yards in 2024 with the Titans, with 13 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a rating of 81.4.
"We're going through the process now with some of our own free agents, and then free agency with other teams," Borgonzi said. "(Mason) certainly did enough good things (last year), and talking with Brian, he was good in the room.
"We've been in touch with those representatives for our current free agents right now."
Timing could be interesting as it relates to Rudolph, who could potentially draw interest from other teams when the free agency period opens next month. Rudolph signed with the Titans last offseason after playing the previous five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who drafted him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Titans currently have just Levis under contract, but more options will present themselves in the coming weeks and months. Quarterback Trevor Siemian spent the 2024 season on Tennessee's practice squad.
"We'll do our due diligence," Callahan said. "We'll have all the players that are available as quarterbacks that we can look at, and find the best fit for us. But Mason is absolutely under that consideration as well."
