What was the difference between the pass rush getting on last week and getting on this week? Was it something in practice that you're doing? Was it a conversation? Was it communication?
I mean, we started Wednesday. The message was assault the middle of the pocket, and affect the quarterback. Vrabes (Mike Vrabel) gives us three keys on defense, three keys on offense and three keys on special teams every week. At the end of the day, I think we did a hell of a job at that today. The first key was assaulting the middle of the pocket and affect the quarterback. We did a hell of a job of that. We heard that message Wednesday, and it carried on throughout the week. Then, of course, the second one, was find (Ja'Marr) Chase, and try to locate him. I think we held him pretty good. And the last one, which is the main important one, is play team defense. We did a hell of a job at that playing team defense. Playing together, rushing together, coverage. We both know, the rush can help the cover, and the cover can help the rush. So, we did a hell of a job today.
That brings us to our conversation after the Chargers game about trying to replicate that performance and carry it over. Do you have a better grasp on how you guys could do that, having put together two of these very similar types of games now?
You've got to be consistent. I think that's the main message needed, going forward. And because we've seen we could do it. I know who this team is. We know who we are. At the end of the day, it's about how consistent we can be, moving forward. We're going on the road this upcoming week, with another great team, division team. I think our message needs to be consistency. Offense working together, defense working together, special teams working together, all coming together and trying to get a win.
