Veteran players stepped up today on both sides of the ball. How big was that to help you guys get a win that you needed to have?
That's what it's about, man. We talked about it all week. Saw it on all three phases. And you know, what I took from it is our offense, eliminate bad football because there's a lot of good things in it. Special teams will set the tone because that's where it starts at. And then defense affect the football. I think we did a hell of a job at that. This is a great win. One that we really needed, because of the energy, social media all that, and everything has just been down. It just feels good to get a win, and being able to do it at home, and back at home next week with another division game. It's going to be big that we start stacking wins. That's what it's going to take especially if we want to still have a shot at the division.
Obviously, defense gets the ball on a turnover, at the Panther's 11-yard line, and the offense turned it into seven points. That's what you guys have been looking for all season, right?
That's the message. Affect the ball and help he offense out. Sometimes that's what we need, a spark. That's what we expect. We expect to get turnovers. We need to do more to try to get more turnovers. At the end of the day, turnovers win games. We know that whoever has the most turnovers, you have a better chance of winning. That was a main key for the defense this week. Work together to affect the football, and we did a hell of a job with that today.
I know it's a goal every week to get after the quarterback, but does it go up even more when you're facing a rookie quarterback?
Most definitely. You know, especially when you got a guy like that. He wants to get the ball out, or look for his best receiver, and you take that read away. It's a hell of a job on the back end today. When you watch film and you know you have an advantage against their guys up front, even with the guys that go down, as they had a lot of injuries. But I think when we talk about our front, we have a lot of guys who can rush the passer. And it's time for us to just to show that. Of course, in some games, the quarterback gets the ball out quick and we talk about different ways to affect the quarterback We just have to get back to that. We're going to get back to that, being more dominant up front and be on the same page. Like I said, today showed that if we're on the same page and working together, we could be good, a great front four.
