DT Chris Jones

221106-final

Q: In overtime, you and Carlos Dunlap split that sack. What's going through your mind?

JONES: "I was thinking it was a full sack for me. I'm not greedy or anything like that (laughs), I'm just saying I was thinking it was a full sack, but no. Carlos (Dunlap) I think is (at) 99.5 (sacks), right? They just don't give sacks out around here (laughter). You know what I mean? But no, that's special, man. Guys played a long time in this league and never achieved that type of accomplishment, so kudos to him. He need(s) a half a sack and it took him eight games (to get to 99.5), so I can understanding how challenging that is for him, what's going through his head. But, I'm proud of him on that aspect. The main focus was getting these guys in passing situations, getting them to throw the ball, play to our strengths as a defense. Once we were able to do that, we were able to get to the quarterback a little."

Q: How did the other guys step up with the absence of Frank Clark?

JONES: "I miss my guy. (I) can't wait till my guy comes back. He's going to be allowed back into the facility next week. But, we had a lot of young guys step up. Malik Herring, George Karlaftis and then Carlos, we got him on a snap count, but we were able to extend him a little bit in critical situations. Khalen Saunders made a lot of big plays tonight. So, we got a lot of depth in the room, a lot of young guys in the room who (Defensive Line) Coach (Joe) Cullen asks a lot to step up from. I'm proud of those guys."

Q: How prepared were you for Titans QB Malik Willis to play?

JONES: "No, we (weren't) surprised. I talked to (Titans DT) Jeff Simmons earlier during the week and we knew. You know, you got to pick their brain (laughter). We knew that he was going to play. (Titans QB Ryan) Tannehill was in a boot, so we prepared for him (Titans QB Malik Willis) well. I don't think we gave up that many rushing yards against him. Second half, I just (saw it was) 27 plays, seven yards. Kudos to the defense. We played a hell of a game – second half I would say, first half we kind of gave up some leaky yardage. But, a heck of a team win."
