S ROBERT JOHNSON
(on if this is where he thought he would go in the draft)
**
Yes. I had a feeling I was going to go around five or around six or whatever round. I just knew that I wanted to play. To get an opportunity to even get drafted by anybody, I'm going to make the best of it.
(on if he had any contact with the Titans through this process)
**
Not at all. That was kind of weird. I'm not familiar with the whole process. It's my first time ever doing it. It's the first time my family has ever went this far. Just kind of getting an unfamiliar area code on my phone was a surprise but I'm excited to be a Titan.
(on if anyone else in his family has ever played Division 1 football)
**
Junior college. Once I graduated from the University of Utah I tried my hardest for this opportunity to play. The Tennessee Titans picked me and I'm about to go play my hardest out there.
(on if he knows former Utah and Titans players Kevin and Andre Dyson)
**
I heard about the Dysons when I was out there. I tried to break one of their records but I wasn't close enough. It's a pleasure to be at Utah and then get drafted by the Tennessee Titans. That's one of the dreams I had while I was young. I'm excited. I'm so excited I almost forgot my Social Security number.
(on what record he was going after that Dyson holds)
**
The most interceptions in a season. I wound up with six in the season and I think the record was eight. Career wise I wound up with 13 when it was 15 I think for the Utah record. I was close but no cigar at the end.
(on the reason he thinks he's had so many interceptions)
**
The rest of the defense, they do what they are supposed to do. Everybody did their job and I was just kind there in the right spot doing what I was supposed to be doing. The coaches let me know, Robert, you have to be the human eraser back there. Don't let them get past you. Most of my interceptions came off of plays where I kind of going over a lot of film and I knew what the defensive linemen were doing. I credit everybody that showed me anything on how to play out there, whether it was offensive linemen giving me some key reads. It's a lot of different things that come with me and my interceptions. It wasn't just me making plays.
(on how much he knows about the Titans)
**
I don't really know too much but I'm about to get to know them quickly.
(on if he played a year of junior college)
**
Yes, I played one year at a junior college. I got a football scholarship to the University of Utah my first year there.
(on if junior college was good preparation for him)
**
The preparation helped me a lot. Coach Henry Washington from Southwest Community College in Los Angeles helped me become a man and he showed me how to really watch film and how to be a real film study guy where your athleticism only takes you so far. He helped me a lot with getting ready for Division 1 and being a man when I get older.
(on making interceptions in big games)
**
Sometimes some of the players and some of my friends on the team told me it was time to make a big play. They kind of looked at me for a lot of different things. I was like, okay, I'm going to help out. I'm going to get out there and see what I can do. It just seemed like most of the time the plays were coming to me. There was one game I really felt like I was in the zone. That was against Colorado State where I felt like I was able to make plays and help the team win where I had three interceptions against them and it was all in the fourth quarter. It helped us to come back to win.
(on if he's mainly a free safety or can he line up against the run too)
**
My senior year I was working on that a lot. The coaches started to put me down in the box a little. It worked out well where I wound up getting 40 more or 30 extra tackles me senior year. I will come down there and try my hardest to throw all this weight I have to make tackles and be the human eraser back there.
(on how Titans see him fitting in with team)
**
I know I will fit good. I'm going to make sure that I fit good.
(on if "the human eraser" is his nickname)
**
The coaches at Utah were telling me you are going to be the guy that is in the back. Be sure no one gets past you. That's where some of my friends were like, the human eraser. I didn't really take it as a nickname. My nickname is RoJo from when I was at Utah.
