Something they did in practice. I guess he's done it before, and we've talked about it, so it's not a big deal.
(On players' effort during Shawn Jefferson's drills)
I hope it was right effort. It's a drill. We do a million drills in training camp, that's all it was. It was just another drill.
(On Shonn Greene's knee)
No issues. We're just trying to be smart with it. He's gotten good work on it for a couple of days, and we just want to know… We've got tomorrow off. He tried to hit it hard today, from the rehab perspective, and then he'll be back on whatever day that is we practice again.
(On Shonn Greene leaving practice)
He came out for the walk through, then he did his rehab stuff.
(On Mike Preston's potential injury)
We'll get him checked out. When you get into that thing, you've got to go through procedures, and that's what we're doing.
(On checking Mike Preston for a concussion)
I think that's the first thing you always have to check, and that's what they do.
(On Mike Preston continuing to practice)
I think it's always symptoms and getting tested. At that point, we just didn't want to take a chance. Those things happen in camp.
(On the players' competitiveness)
You can ask for it all you want, but it's really the competitiveness of the players that's going to drive that. We've been clear about what our expectations are. It's a competitive business, and the only way you get better is to push each other and to compete in practice. I like it. It's been good. It's been good give and take on both sides. I've liked it since we first got here.
(On the defense playing more intensely)
I thought both sides of the ball, at times, did good things. That's what you normally see in camp. I think if you get one side of it that's kind of running over the other side the whole time, then you worry, but that hasn't been the case.
(On Leon Washington's and Justin Hunter's progress)
We're just really seeing that, with the pads on now. Some of those guys, like (Derek) Hagan and (Brian) Robiskie, we didn't even get until late in the OTA session, so they're getting their reps. I think the evaluation is something that's going to take a little bit of time. We're seeing some good things, seeing some missed assignments. I think, really, we'll get any ideas when we get to the games.
(On the kicking competition)
We'll progress it over the next week. Obviously, we've got the practice with Atlanta coming up, and we'll do kicking there. We'll obviously do it in the games, so we'll get more into that as the week progresses.
(On Bishop Sankey as a running back)
We liked a lot of things that he did, that's why we drafted him where we did. He's doing a good job. I said yesterday he's one of the guys that stood out the first day. He's got a long way to go, he's a young player, but I like what I'm seeing. Of course, he had a couple of mistakes out there today, too, that he's got to correct.
(On the perspective from the quarterback camera)
It's really good for looking at their footwork, looking at what they're doing mechanically. That's really the important piece of it. It's much easier to see it when you have that little bit of an advantage. I've never done it with the whole camera before. I've always done it with, like, a volleyball stand, believe it or not, but that's a lot easier, and it gives you a good viewpoint of it. It's in the 7-on-7, so you see it in the 7-on-7. We have all the individuals done from that angle, too, so it's a good tool. We look at the sideline and the end zone for the 7-on-7. I was not sure how that's going to look, but it's a lot easier to use, because when you're using the volleyball stand, you've got to move it around all the time. You like that perspective, I think it really helps when we're talking about footwork, when we're talking about little techniques with the quarterbacks.
(On the kickers practicing)
If they may be sneaking in and kicking in the bubble, I'm not aware of that. They do a little bit of extra here and there but nothing that I've really put a lot of time in watching.
(On selecting a kicker for the season)
I feel good about us having a kicker that we're going to feel comfortable with when the season starts.
(On the receiver-defensive back blocking drills)
That's something you've got to work on if you're going to be a good running football team, which we want to do. Those guys have got to get physical a little bit.
(On Bishop Sankey's mistakes)
One of them was ball-handling. We had announced that run, and that lead to the fumble. It lead to the exchange problem with the quarterback. He was supposed to take a jab step, and he just took off. Those are the little things. That was a big thing, because it was a turnover, but we've got to get those cleaned up.
(On Zaviar Gooden's performance)
He's coming on. He's doing some good things. He's still got to continue to work, but he's in the mix in that rotation, and I like what I've seen.
(On the 7-on-7 in the red zone)
It's the first day. Like I said, it was good give and take on both sides of the ball.
(On Dexter McCluster finding a rhythm as a running back)
He's done a good job with that through the OTAs, and I think everybody has a little adjustment when you get into the pads. I don't think that's the case with Dexter (McCluster). The one thing I don't know is, as a return perspective, he's done a lot of that, and that's very similar as far as seeing the holes and making the cuts. Obviously, taking a hand off out of the backfield is something that is not dissimilar to that. I haven't seen anything that makes me be concerned about Dexter. I'm excited about some of the things that he's done.
(On Bishop Sankey's ability)
I like what I've seen from (Bishop) Sankey. When we drafted him, we felt like he was a good match for what we were trying to do, offensively. I haven't seen anything that's made me think otherwise.
