HEAD COACH MIKE MUNCHAK
(on injuries heading into Sunday's game)
(Brett) Kern is probable. (David) Stewart practiced, and he'll be questionable. (Zaviar) Gooden practiced, and he'll be questionable. Shonn Greene is questionable. He didn't practice. Damian (Williams) didn't practice, so he'll be questionable. Stewart practiced, but he'll be questionable. It's a lot better for him than last week. He got the whole workout in.
(on being cautious with Shonn Greene knowing Jackie Battle can step in)
That helps us, there's no doubt about it. He's been getting better every day, but better is one thing and playing in a game is another. We have to really see how he is tomorrow. But, yeah, that helps us a lot having Jackie (Battle).
(on how much Akeem Ayers will play this weekend)
I think you'll see him play a little more than that. He'll still play a little bit more in the nickel. He didn't do a lot in the four-man rush last week because of the ankle and us not wanting to overwork him and pick spots where we can rest him. I think you'll just gradually see him play more and more each week.
(on playing Justin Hunter if Damian Williams is injured)
He's ready to go. He's gotten better every day, every week he's been here. It seems like he gets a better understanding of the offense as we go. He had a good week at practice. The good thing here is that Damian (Williams) didn't practice all week, so he got a lot of reps. Him and Mike P. (Michael Preston) got a lot of reps. They should be confident in what they're being asked to do. That's the good part about it. It's not one of those injuries that happened at the end of the week and the guy hasn't repped all week. He got a lot of reps. We have confidence in him. We know he's a guy that can make plays for us, and he brings a different type of player out there. If he gets a chance, I know he'll make the best of it.
(on how David Stewart looked at practice today)
He did. He looked good. He knows how hard it is not to practice and then go play on Sunday. It's very difficult to do. It was hard for him last week to do that. I don't care who you are, but that's a hard deal not to practice the whole week and play in a game. Usually a younger player probably wouldn't have done it. Since he's been around, he can get away with it. I think it was important for him to practice today. He's obviously going to play against a good football player, a few good players, so he needed some good work today, and he got it.
(on his thoughts about Keith Bulluck's charges being dropped)
I didn't really know much about it. This is the first I've heard of this part. I'm glad it had all worked out for Keith (Bulluck). We know what a great guy he is and what a great player he's been, so that's good that it got straightened out.
