HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER, JUNE 25, 2008**
(On defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth saying he is in better shape than last year when he went to camp)
That's great, I haven't talk to him. I hope that is the case. I've been saying that all along; I hope that he is working hard and trust that at this point in his career he needs to do that.
(On Haynesworth's maturation)
He wouldn't have been in this situation a couple of years ago. I thought he did a nice job for us last year. The whole experience throughout the year; he fought back through a difficult hamstring injury and still came back and played at a high level.
(On Haynesworth claiming that last season was just an average year for him)
I think if you have a good chance to be a good player in this league for a long time, then what you have to do is strive to continue to improve. I think that is what he is saying, that he can do better than he did last year. I think that is the case for all of us.
(On how the race for the backup defensive line positions is shaping up)
We've got good depth. They are all doing great things right now. We also have versatility; that is something we have not had in a long time. We've got guys that can play end and rush the tackle and play tackle and rush the end. In a perfect world that is what you look for in a defensive line.
(On defensive lineman Jacob Ford)
We saw good things his first day back and early in OTA's. As a matter of fact, we backed him down the next one because I was a little concerned that he was coming too quickly. He has been very productive out there.
(On former defensive lineman Rien Long's possible return to the Titans)
Rien has set his goals very high. It is a miracle that he is here with us and he has come a long way. The motivating factor for Rien is to try to get back on the field. It is good to see him around. I wish nothing but the best for Rien Long, after what he has been through. If he can get himself to the point where he can come out and do the things that he was doing before, I'm not so sure that he has played his last snap yet.
