HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER**
(on the high number of false starts)
**
Actually they were down today. It was much improved over yesterday. We had a couple on offense. Our offense is really working the hard count to slow the defense down because of the nature of the OTAs. You don't want to see them but we are doing pretty well in that area right now.
(on whether he has a reaction to Vince Young's interview with ESPN)
**
No. We have talked and I think he understands. This is what is important that he understands his role here. There was no misunderstanding whatsoever about his role and what he needed to do.
(on how Vince Young is coming along)
**
Yeah, he is doing fine. He has been working hard. He is going to have a lot of opportunities during the next week and throughout training camp.
(on the status of the rookies)
**
They have caught up physically, which was the nature of the three week break. We wanted them to be able to do that. They have caught up and they are doing well. They got a lot of work in on the field during the break. They are blending in well now. They know each other and the vets aren't treating them like rookies. They are treating them more like help.
(on Jared Cook and his ability to catch everything thrown his way)
**
That is why we did what we did on draft day. He is unique and has terrific hands and concentration. He is swimming a little bit, we are moving him around and doing a lot with him, but we expect him to make a lot of plays for us.
(on if he understands Vince Young's frustration)
**
Anybody that is in a backup role right now is frustrated because they are not playing. It doesn't just stop at Vince. Everybody wants to be a starter and we understand that. I wouldn't classify it as frustration. He understands that he is in the situation that he is in and he just needs to keep working.
(on whether Vince has a chance to compete for the starting role)
**
Kerry [Collins] came back as our starter. If Kerry for some reason is not productive or gets hurt then Vince plays, but right now Kerry is our starter. We are developing Vince. We are going to continue to develop Vince and as I said time after time we expect him to eventually be the player that we drafted him to be.
(on whether he prefers Vince to be lower profile)
**
Put yourself in his shoes. If you were on the streets and you were a reporter and you had a chance to talk with him, you would ask him questions. What I said earlier, what is important is that we have an understanding. There is no misunderstanding as to what his role is and what he needs to do.
(on the growth he has seen with Vince)
**
We saw it as time went on last year over the period of time and from game to game. Those first couple games when he came back, that was hard for him and hard for everybody. It wasn't an easy thing, but he came around. He had fun on the practice field and worked. He knew he had to prepare himself to be ready to play because we had a good thing going and he did. The time away right when the season was over was good for him and he came back in and we had our meeting and he has been fine.
(on Vince tucking the ball and running a lot at practice)
**
We have a different set of play selections for him that is going to allow him to do that.
(on Kevin Dyson helping the receivers during his NFL minority coaching internship)
**
You know who Kevin's coach was [Fred Graves at Utah], so we have a legacy going on here now. I think it is good. Kevin is excited to be here and he can lend a lot especially to the younger guys, not only to be able to drop their hips and getting out of cuts and concentrate on the ball, but also how to be a pro. I think Kevin will do a nice job for us.
