**HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER
(on having the rookies and veterans together this week)**
This is our second day with them together, and things are going well. The rookies came in on Monday, got back into conditioning, and then we had a real good workout on Tuesday. Yesterday they worked out again, and so things are going well. We got a lot in. They're swimming a little bit. We got most of them in the normal part of practice as opposed to the (rookie) session at the end. So they're doing well.
(on limiting Kenny Britt's participation on Thursday)
We had a few guys that we just backed down. His hamstring is a little tight, and we just don't want to lose him, so we backed him down. He had a real good day on Tuesday. There are several other guys that are in the same boat.
(on skirmishes at practice)
We were competing today. You don't like to see it. We had one on Tuesday, and we got past it. They're just competing. It's hot, and it's part of football.
(on if the skirmishes bother him)
No, it doesn't. It won't carry over into the game on this team.
(on the defense competing hard during the two-minute drill at the end of practice)
It's a competitive drill, and they knew that this particular drill was going to be realistic. Oftentimes we'll create situations just to go through the exercise, but today was realistic. Both sides were competing.
(on Nate Washington's absence Thursday)
Nate is on his way to Washington, D.C., with his former teammates to be honored by the president.
(on having Keith Bulluck back at practice)
Yes, he got things put behind him and is here. He was here Monday, and it was a different atmosphere with him not here: it was quiet.
(on Jevon Kearse's timetable for his knee rehab)
He's close. I think we'll have him back for the June OTAs.
(on what he's seeing from the receiver group)
Chris (Davis) had a great day today, all the way through, and Paul (Williams) made some plays. They're all competing. The rookies, understandably, are going to be a little bit behind, but everybody else should know what to do, and they're getting the opportunities.
(on the league possibly expanding the season to 17 or 18 games)
You know, the (competition) committee has had some discussion, and we're still in the middle of discussing it. We're still gathering information. They asked for the competition committee's recommendation, and we are just not prepared to make a recommendation at this point.
(on tomorrow's practice)
Tomorrow we're going to back off the team stuff and focus on throwing the football, let the offensive and defensive lines work more in their individual (position units), like we did last week with the vets.
