HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER, DEC 26, 2008**
(On how practice went today)
Practice was good. We gave them the day off yesterday because we felt they were entitled to spend the holiday with their families and they came back in early this morning. We had a good day. We had to combine a couple of days worth of work but they're excited about going out and playing well.
(On if all three quarterbacks will play)
There's a chance that we'll get Chris [Simms] in the game.
(On how much he's looking forward to seeing some of the backups play)
Well, again, the objective is to play hard and play well and find a way to win the ball game. If we're able to get some of the other players in in the second half then it'll be beneficial to them.
(On how significant it is for Vince Young to make the most out of his playing time against Indianapolis)
Well, it's important. He's done a real good job in the backup role. He's been prepared. He showed he was prepared against Detroit and he's prepared to play. This gives him an opportunity, if he gets in the ball game and does well, it does give him an opportunity to carry over into the offseason with the thought that there's a chance this may all be behind him, he may be the guy. There's a lot of things we have to work out. What we're focused on is winning this ball game and making sure that if guys get a chance to play then they play well.
(On how he'll explain to younger players about the increased intensity of playoff football)
I think the experience last weekend against Pittsburgh was a good rehearsal. As we said, everything picked up there. It's not hard to explain to them. This group in particular, this year's rookie class, has been contributing. We've got veteran players that have been there. A large number of these players were in the playoffs last year and they saw the difference.
(On if he relies on the veterans to relay the importance of the playoffs to the younger players)
The message goes to the whole team. You could have a veteran team that for whatever reason can't handle the emotions associated with the playoff game. There's one message and it goes to everybody.
(On if the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage changes the team's ability to play the underdog role)
Not necessarily. What's important in the postseason is you do exactly what you did in the regular season. Do what you did to get there and that's the approach we take. Take one week at a time. We know that we have no chance of going to the championship game unless we win the first round.
(On if the team will find a way to be perceived as an underdog)
Well, we're taking the same approach that we've taken all year, whatever you perceive that to be.
