QB TRENT EDWARDS
On coming back from his injury and starting Sunday's game:
Yeah I felt a lot better at practice today. Feel good, getting better each day, and it was just nice to get back out there with the guys and along with your teammates. We've got a big game on Sunday that a lot of guys are getting ready for right now.
On what the offense needs to do to get back on track and finish strong in the last eight games:
It's been killing us and I think when you guys lost those first six games it was probably the same situation with your offense. Not converting on third downs, constant turnovers, and not scoring in the red zone, and when any offense struggles those are the three things you look at and we've got to fix those things. We've got to stay on the field on third downs, we've got to score when we get down there and we can't turn the ball over.
On if he's hoping that WR Terrell Owens will play on Sunday:
Yeah definitely. He's a part of our offense. We need him and I don't know what the situation is right now. He wasn't out there today but hopefully he'll be back here soon. He's a tough guy so hopefully he'll get healthy here and get ready to go.
On dealing with Owens and what he's been like as a teammate and in the huddle:
He's been great. He's one of those guys that is a competitor. He raises the level of play of guys around you and he's just a guy in the huddle that wants the ball obviously. He wants to win and that's the bottom line. I haven't had any negative fallout from it.
On if he's ever followed Owens' reality TV show:
I don't watch a ton of the T.O. show. I've got other channels and shows that I do watch but I haven't gotten a chance to really watch that.
On not learning anything about Owens through watching his show:
Yeah I wouldn't be able to compare it but I haven't had any problems and he's been doing this for a long time. He's got a lot of good knowledge that he's passing along to other receivers and DBs and other teammates and he's been great so far.
On if coming to a smaller market team has been better for Owens:
That's tough to say. I don't really know his personality when it comes to his view on that situation but I'd imagine that it's a little bit nicer for him not having a lot of people around you all of the time. I feel like Buffalo's a little bit smaller town where you can go and do things and not get recognized all of the time.
On what Buffalo's been like for him compared to California:
It's a big change. I think I'm the furthest one from their hometown. I think I'm over 2,500 miles away from where I grew up and I think two other guys on this team came the furthest from home, but there's obviously some big changes. The weather, the atmosphere's a little bit different, but if you look at the small town feel, I grew up in a small town, there's the same sort of feel here in Buffalo. The fans are loyal and passionate and want to win and I come from an area like that that's all sports and I've enjoyed it so far.
On if he was able to attend the Stanford-Oregon game on Saturday:
I was able to take my dad to the game. We went up and sat in the stands and were able to see them pull that one out and saw my high school team Friday night and they had a big one and saw my old college team play Saturday afternoon and get a big win, too, so it was fun being back in town.
On if he hopes to turn the team around after the bye week:
Yeah and I think that we would definitely be happy winning these next two games like the Titans were able to after their bye week. But what it does is it allows you to just kind of get away and clear your head. You spend so much time with these guys on a daily basis but there are times when you're losing that it's kind of hard to be around guys and you kind of get tired of the same old stuff. And that's what the bye week allows you to do. It allows you to go home and see your family or go do what you need to do and we had a great practice on Monday and a great one today, and I feel like guys are definitely more excited to be here.
On prepping for the Titans defense:
That's tough. When you look at a team like the Titans you're kind of facing two different styles of defenses. You look at the first six games and they kind of like to sit back in their coverage, didn't really play a lot of one-high safety looks and now the past two weeks they've beat the Jags at home and then they beat Alex (Smith) last week out in San Francisco and they're closing the middle a lot, they're playing a lot of one-high safeties and bringing a lot of pressure, play a lot of man, and you've got to prepare for both that's what the hard part is. A defense like that that gives you so much you've got to be able to have the answers if they do give you the different look.
On how many times DB Jairus Byrd has picked him off in practice:
(laughs) He wasn't really there during training camp. I think he was hurt and I didn't really go up against him a ton because when he came back I was going up against the ones in training camp. I was going up against Donte (Whitner) and Bryan Scott and now George Wilson and Jairus are both in there and they're playing well. I never really had a chance to say something but he's a good football player. He's just around the ball. Even if you watch him there are safeties that are always in position to make the interceptions. It's just a matter of really having that knack to make the play and catch the ball and he's one of those guys that just has really good hands as a safety and knows how to read quarterbacks' eyes and it always seems like he's in the right spot. And when he is in the right spot he makes the play.
